The making of humanistic economics
John Komlos, Professor Emeritus, Department of Economics, University of Munich

Abstract

Abstract
The essay traces the evolution of my academic career through three stages: as a Habsburg economic historian, an anthropometric historian, and as a humanistic economist exposing the Achilles hills of mainstream economics and tracing the roots of the rise of the current right-wing populist movement through the economic history of the U.S. since Reaganomics. The essay also explores how one stage led to the next, all the time preserving my predilection for data-driven deductive analysis.
Keywords: Humanistic Economics, Capitalism with a Human Face, Biological Standard of Living
